Red River Commodities, headquartered in Fargo -North Dakota, has achieved a leadership position as a supplier/processor of speciality crops including confectionary sunflower, millet, flax and more. In its five modern processing units located in Texas, Kansas, North Dakota and Zevenbergen the company processes over 175.000 tons annually of in-shell sunflower, sunflower kernels, wild bird food, roasted snacks and seeds for the food industry, wholesale and retailers.History
Red River Commodities was started in the early 70's as a trader of speciality grains mainly for use in the birdfood industry. Red River Commodities began to trade in confection sunflower kernels and some inshell products in the late 70's and in 1980 made the decision to build a completely new confection sunflower processing plant located in Fargo. The Company expanded by creating a network of growers in diverse regions allowing for risk management of this specialty crop. In the late 80's, Red River Commodities made the decision to enter into the packaged wild birdfood business. A new birdfood processing plant was built in Fasgo in '99. The Lubbock plant was build in 2001. Nowadays Red River Commodities operates from five different locations, with its headquarters in Fargo - North Dakota.
Red River Van Eck
Red River van Eck is located in Zevenbergen (NL) as a sister Company of Red River Commodities. It is among others involved in the marketing of goods produced by the Red River facilities. It also warehouses the USA products for the European shipment and consumption. It was estabilished in 1883 as a family owned company, therefore it has a long standing, solid reputation which serves as the basis of its current businesses.
Red River van Eck is specialised in supplying a select group of products to the confection, spice and bakery industry. Its primary activity is the processing of caraway and poppy seeds. By using three sophisticated production lines, it produces high quality products geared to the specifications and needs of its customers. Besides that a physical stock of various other bakery seed such as millet, sunflower kernel, sesame seed, pumpkin seed and linseed from many different parts of the world.
